Welcome to MyCoinGrade.

This site contains information about six commonly collected coin series: Lincoln cents, Indian Head cents, Buffalo nickels, Mercury dimes, Standing Liberty quarters, and Walking Liberty half dollars. These coin types were chosen due to their popularity but also because they would benefit the most from a comprehensive site. Older Bust, Seated, Barber, or obsolete coin types have smaller collector bases. Modern coin series are typically collected only at the uncirculated level, and many of this site's features would not apply to them. Morgan and Peace silver dollars already have promising comprehensive sites dedicated to them but may be added to MyCoinGrade at a future point.

Every coin type on this site is spotlighted in an extensive profile. Here, the reader will receive a brief history of the series. Included is a summary of key dates, varieties, specifications, and other details of interest to collectors. Most importantly, every single design element is described and analyzed. The primary picture is interactive! Click on any description box to produce colorful highlights on the coin. The transparent color highlights indicate the described elements' location. A few series also include additional information describing major design changes.

A foremost concern for any coin collector is how to grade coins. This site includes detailed grading guidelines for the collector's perusal. All twenty-four grades between AG-3 and MS-67 are explored in a guided tour featuring example images and thorough grade-specific instructions for every coin. The user can quickly navigate using their keyboard's arrow keys or jump to any grade of their choice using the buttons on the webpage.

Whenever shopping for coins, whether online, at a coin show, or even at a local coin shop, time is of the essence, and the collector will want to make astute grading estimates quickly. The QuickGrade grading guidelines, one for each featured coin series, teach the user to make fast estimates by focusing on key design elements. Large example images and an interactive tab allow the user to choose and compare grades. This section of the website also includes more information on grading in general.

Not all coins are perfect. Another section of the website is dedicated to all the problems collectors face when scrutinizing their coins. The page covers fake coins, poor strikes, cleaning, artificial toning, damage, environmental issues, and more. Even a basic understanding of such problems will save time and money and make the hobby more enjoyable.
